I can’t take credit for this one. Jen just emailed me this picture and I think it signals the coming of the end of our way of life:

I just read on espn.com that the Bruins have traded Marco Sturm to Los Angeles for a conditional draft pick.

I suppose that’s one way to get under the cap when Sturm comes back… never let him come back.

This makes me sad.  I wanted to kill Mr Sturm when he came here from San Jose for Joe Thornton… because he came here for Joe Thornton… but he played well right from the start and has been a good player for us ever since.

Oh no!

Christmas is coming soon and I am not ready!

It goes without saying that on December 2nd I have not bought any gifts for anyone yet. That’s sort of a given. I’ve been getting things done early in recent years, but never this early. At least I don’t think so. I wonder if I check my posts from the last two Decembers, will they tell me that I was done in the first week? Probably not.

Anyway, I’m not stressing about buying gifts yet. I’m stressing about my own Christmas list.

I have no idea what I want for Christmas. None. None whatsoever.

I was walking into work this morning and saw myself reflected in the glass door and though, these pants are a little short. I should ask for new work pants for Christmas.

Really. That thought went through my head, exactly like that. Do you need any more proof of my fast approaching senior citizenship than that? I’m going to ask for work clothes for Christmas. The horror!

My brother, sister, and I, along with all of our spouses (it is still really cool to say that) are using a site called elfster to do our family secret Santa stuff. I have to come up with a wish list before my anonymous secret Santa kicks my ass.

There are only 23 days left. Panic time! WOOHOO!

The Bruins are playing the Flyers tonight. They lead the game 2-0 with 2:40 left in the second period. Philly is about to take a penalty shot though, so let’s wait for that before writing anything more……..

So what was I thinking? Oh yeah. They are talking about this as the big rematch of last season’s second round playoff series. You remember that one, right? That’s the one where the Bruins joined the ranks of the biggest losers in pro sports history by blowing a three games to none lead in a seven game series?

This is not a rematch of that. Winning this game tonight won’t exorcise the demons of last seasons epic, humiliating collapse.

Winning this game will give the Bruins two points in the standings. There is no way the Boston Bruins can make us forget about the horrors of the 2nd round last year. If they win the Stanley Cup this year we might forgive the horror that was last year’s tragic conclusion, but believe me… we will not forget.

April 10, 2011 is a Sunday. We don’t have the kids that weekend.
April 8, 2011 is a Friday.

Rush has recently released dates in the US and Canada in April and Europe in May. They have said there will be more North American shows after they return from Europe, but they have not released an itinerary yet.

So far, these additional dates do not include any New England sites. When the current list of shows was announced Jen and I started thinking about Madison Square Garden (again) on April 10th. That is very doable.

Today, Jen told me that Hershey Pennsylvania is sure nice in the Spring. Specifically, it’s nice at the Giant Center on April 8th.

Might our Rush 2011 road trip (tentative) be expanded?

I didn’t think it would happen this time. Somehow I thought it would miss us this year. Somehow I was wrong in my hopes and expectations.

December has arrived.

Crud.

Don’t get me wrong, I love almost everything about December. The holidays, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, the general feeling of insanity as we try and get everything ready. Things like that.

But there is one thing about December that I hate almost as much as I hate the Yankees:

Winter.

Yes, the month that includes the first official day of winter is upon us. Granted the temps are in the 50’s around here today, but that’s just a tease. The pain and suffering that is cold, snowy, icy weather is right on our doorstep.

I try to console myself by saying that each day brings us closer to next summer, but that’s not cutting it. The entire winter still stands before us.

Brrrr.

Of course my camera phone wasn’t quite up to the challenge, but here is a bit of rainbow popping out of a cloud. We saw this out of the office window yesterday.

Last night Rush officially announced a US leg to their 2011 tour. I don’t see any specific dates in the announcement, nor do I see any links to an lists of official dates.

I did, however, stumble across this list at this site. I’m not sure if it’s 100% accurate or not, but the best bet for Robbie and Jenny is Madison Square Garden in New York, NY on April 10th.
