Darwin Day

Did you know that tomorrow, February 12, 2011 is Darwin Day? There’s a holiday I can get behind!

Check out this wikipedia article. Also, check out this awesome Darwin Day Celebration events listing! The link brings you to events near my zip code (because this is my page, damn it and this link will probably only ever be used by me, and I want it to go to my area! Damn it!) but you can search for events near you by giving it your zip code. There is an event listed in Dracut, MA. We should all go!

Can I get a WOOHOO for Darwin?

WOOHOO!

Some Progress

After failing to get anything done when I had a ton of time on Tuesday, and then failing on Wednesday and Thursday morning, I made a bit of musical progress.

After the kids went to bed last night Jen was still working like a woman on fire. She said she was going to need about an hour to finish up the task she was working on so I went downstairs and fired up the 8-track.

Crappy song number seven is long and slow and probably way too boring to ever amount to anything outside of an album-in-a-month type of deal. When I had my drum program/scratch guitar down on tape there was only about two and a half minutes worth of time left before the tape ran out. So I figured I’d throw together a quick one. Crappy song number eight is about one minute long and is really fast. It’s sort of the opposite of crappy song number seven.

Who cares, it’s there.

This weekend I need to get two more songs kicked off. I’m only a couple of minutes short of the 35 minute goal, but I’d like to reach the 10 song goal as well. Then next Monday through Thursday I need to get at least the bass parts recorded, if not the electric rhythm guitars as well. (I hope to sneak some acoustic parts on a few of these songs. I say that every year and it never happens, so we’ll see.) That way I will be clear for a full day of lyrics and melodies on Friday. I took the day off specifically to work on the project.

I can feel my motivation coming back… a little.

Thursday

No music today. I set my alarm for 5:00 and when it went off I reset it for 6:15. My 2011 RPM is starting to feel like it’s in jeopardy. My motivation is quickly disappearing.

Did you see the Bruins game last night? It was 6-5 when I fell asleep. It ended 8-6 Bruins.

What a game! Let’s watch the highlights together…

Tonight’s Bruins Game

Are you watching this Bruins game right now?

Bruins 6, Montreal 4 in the third period.

Wild end to end rushes. Goal scoring smorgasbord. Hits, fights, a mild goalie fight, and most importantly for a B’s vs Habs game: HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE!!!!!

My brother and sister in law are at the game. John asked me if I wanted to go. I couldn’t because it’s a kids night and I don’t miss kids night for anything other than emergencies. We were supposed to watch Back to the Future 3, but we didn’t have time.

This is the hockey gods’ way of punishing me for not going. The game rawks.

Although… Montreal just scored again to cut the lead to 6-5. If the Bruins blow this game…

This is way too stressful for a regular season game. If I went tonight they’d surely be using the defibrillator on me by now.
