Dirt Pedals

Everyone says that if you play through a muff style pedal you have to find a way to boost the mid range frequencies or else you’re getting lost in the mix. Many people recommend putting the fuzz after an overdrive or a clean boost. Well, I have an overdrive.

This particular setup sounds okay through my Fender Deluxe Reverb at low volumes. Not perfect, but not bad.

Will that work through my noisy Marshall on Sunday? I guess we’ll have to see.

The OCD would stay on all the time. The Bass Muff would be for rhythm. The white Muff would be for leads, and as you can see the volume knob is up higher than the green Muff.

I was also hoping this would cut down on some of the really bad hum I’m getting through my NYC Muff at band practice. The Nano was okay, noise wise, before, but today with this setup it there was a lot of noise. It could be that I was using a power supply instead of a 9v battery. It could also have been the noisy lights in the cellar. Not sure. We’ll see how it flies on Sunday.

Maybe my next pedal will just be an EQ.

New Pedal

This says it’s a bass guitar pedal, but it’s actually just a new version of the old Russian tank green models from the 90’s.  I’ve read about lots of guitarist who use this.

This little guy will be for rhythm parts, and the non-bass nano I already have will be for leads.  That’s the plan at least.

Truth is, I just want to own one of each model dating all the way back to the triangles from 1970, including all of the thousands of clones.

Happy New Pedal Day!

Wanna See the White Mountains?

I found this on boston.com today. Want to see the White Mountains in New Hampshire? Check out this video for a taste of what you’ll find. It’s also a nice demonstration of how cool a drone with a go pro camera can be.

Home Owners

I just went outside to fill the two bird feeders. When I opened up the big one I found something heartwarming.

Spider webs.

Yup. It’s heartwarming because it’s nice to know the real owners of our property are just as pleased with the bird feeder situation as I am. Seeing as the spiders outnumber us by about 10000000000000000000 to 1, it only seems fitting to admit that this place is theirs and they just let us stay here. Not the other way around.

Note: slight exaggeration.

Sports

Last night Mookie Betts hit three home runs for the Red Sox. He became the first player in team history to homer in the first and second innings of a game.

He just did it again.

He has five home runs in his last seven at bats. If Babe Ruth were still alive he’d probably say, “Woah!”

On an unrelated note, Joe Thornton and the San Jose Sharks will tie up the Stanley Cup Finals tonight. Right? Right? Go Sharks!
