Not Yet
The kids were supposed to be home late in the evening, past my bed time. Unfortunately their train was delayed so now they are going to be getting here quite late. We will wait up for them though. We both miss them like crazy and can’t wait to see them. Two weeks is a long time.
Tonight Tonight Tonight
The kids are coming home tonight!!
WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Pixels
Did you know that the new Adam Sandler movie, Pixels, about Earth being attacked by video game characters from the 80’s is based on a short film?
Something tells me the short is going to be 100 times better than the feature, but at least the premise is cool.
Missing Them
Last night was the first night since the day their vacation started that my step kids would have been at our house but they weren’t because they are on the wrong end of the continent.
I know they are having a blast on their trip, but frankly last night sucked without them. Jen and I are missing them so very much.
It Worked
They did it! It worked! Success!
New Horizons has re-established contact with Earth. The mission worked! Bring on the close up pics! Pluto!
Oh, Hi There Pluto
(Im)Patiently Waiting
Well, New Horizons had it’s closest encounter with Pluto. It happened a couple of hours ago. All of the probes systems were tied up with it’s observations, so there was no communication with Earth during the flyby. That, plus the 4-5 hours it takes for messages to cross the 3 billion or so miles to Earth, means we won’t know for sure that everything worked until late this evening. I read somewhere that we don’t expect to receive any data until 8-9 O’Clock tonight. We know the spacecraft made it to Pluto. We won’t know for a while yet if it successfully completed it’s objectives. There is always a chance some thing could have gone wrong. Fingers crossed that everything went fine. For now, I will just wait impatiently for some news.
One More Day
New Horizons reaches Pluto tomorrow! Tomorrow! It’s been on the road for nine years and it gets there tomorrow!

Fantasy
We talked about flying to Denver for one day to catch a Rush show. It was a Saturday show on a weekend when the kids were at their dad’s. We didn’t do it because head colds suck.
The tour ends in Los Angeles on August 1st. It’s a Saturday… On a weekend when the kids are at their dad’s…
A Rush fanatic can fantasize, right? There’s nothing wrong with that, is there? Huh?
