I just mentioned in the last post that I play three different guitars that were all regularly played at one point or another by Eric Clapton.

My #1 guitar is a Gibson Les Paul:

My #3 guitar is a Fender Stratocaster:

There are two guitars on my Gear Acquisition Syndrome “I Want” list.  One is a Gibson SG:

The other is a Gibson Firebird:

There are other guitars too.  The Eric Clapton Signature Fender Stratocaster is considered by many folks to be the best Strat Fender makes.  I don’t know if that’s true, but I’d love one.  There’s the black Strat that he played through the seventies into the early eighties.  He sold that one, and pretty much everything else he still had, in the big Crossroads rehab center auctions.  There are a couple of other Les Pauls that show up through the 60’s into the early 70’s.  There’s also the Gibson Byrdland he played at George Harrison’s Concert for Bangladesh though I am pretty sure that was a rental and not something he owned.  Who knows.

The real question here is… is my next guitar an SG or a Firebird?

I recorded the final guitar parts for two songs tonight. I was going to use the 335, but I figured it was Eric Clapton’s birthday, and Clapton is god, so I should probably use the Stratocaster. (All three of my guitars were purchased in part due to Eric Clapton having played the same models at various points in his life.)

The strings are dead and rusty and dead and dead and I played like shite on both songs… but they are done. Mixes to come soon.

Today is Eric Clapton’s 73rd birthday.  Happy Birthday!

I have a gigantic head and there is only one place online that seems to sell baseball hats that fit my huge noggin.

My stay-at-home pedalboard was supposed to be cheaper clones of the pedals on my gig-pedalboard. Yet somehow it has a Fulltone and a Wren and Cuff pedal on it. I might have a gear acquisition problem.

Want to know what I failed to do over the last couple of months?

I failed to pay any attention to the Boston Red Sox spring training. I feel a little bad about that, like I let down my side of the deal.

Starting tomorrow though, I’m back on the wagon.

Tomorrow is Opening Day!
