I went to a wake tonight. A parent of an old friend.
Alzheimer’s.
My mother didn’t have that, but she did have dementia and that’s probably close enough.
Watching someone you love go through that is just dreadful. It’s about the most awful thing you can experience. I felt sad for my friend and sad for my mother.
Give the people you care about a hug.

Thank you for sharing this!!! You are so right Alzheimer’s/dementia is such a horrible thing. Destroying who you are by erasing memories! Surviving is not living!!! Such a hard disease for the patient and the family. Speaking from personal experience it is a total shock when your Dad sticks his head into a room and asks, Who are you??? I thought he was teasing until I realized he wasn’t and it broke my heart!!! They can put people on the moon and find was to save those with HIV but can’t cure or halt Alzheimer’s.
