Not John Mayall, no!
CNN Reports: Influential Blues musician John Mayall has died at 90.
That just sucks.
He gave us Eric Clapton, he gave us Peter Green, he gave us Mick Taylor, but most importantly he gave us John Mayall. What a colossal career. Rest in Peace, Sir.
He was to British blues what Muddy Waters was to the American kind.

I’m somewhat embarrassed to confess, I’ve never heard a single tune from this man, despite being aware of his legendary status for years. I’m going to rectify that. Any recommendations?

Start with Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton. If that’s all you ever hear then that’s good enough. That was the only record he did with Clapton and it’s a classic. Next would be Hard Road, which was the one record he made with Peter Green before Green started Fleetwood Mac. After that there were a bunch of records with Mick Taylor before he joined the Rolling Stones. I like Crusade and Blues from Laurel Canyon. Any of those records would be a good start.

…I’ve had ‘John Mayall & The Bluesbreakes w/ Eric Clapton’ for a very long time, and every song is ranked 5-stars. Brilliant album.
