Commute Stats

Forgive me for being a stats nerd here.

I zeroed a trip odometer in my car before the morning commute and took a picture to record the result when I arrived at work. I did the same on the evening commute home.

Oddly both drives were mostly devoid of traffic jams. There was one bad spot this morning and none this evening.

Here are the results.

Evening commute:

Isn’t that fascinating? One bonus pic that some of you may be expecting… the odometer:

I could not resist.

I’ll do this again on Wednesday (unless I forget, which is very likely) and we will see how things look with normal traffic.

  1. My car doesn’t record drive time anywhere. I’d love that feature! As far as I know, my worst work commute was 70 miles (one way), which took 4 hrs & 15 min… normal rush hour traffic. I was lucky that I coincidentally took a day off when a tanker truck later overturned. Coworkers said it took over 2 hours to go 1 exit to get off the freeway (frwy 5 lanes wide; single lane exit to single lane road).

  2. The discrepancy between the two mileage readings is puzzling to be sure. Could it be that your car was lifted off the ground by aliens for part of its journey and you’re just not remembering — or are you ONLY NOW remembering …!!!!
