I over slept this morning. After the five nights in the hospital last week it has been pretty difficult for Jen and me to get back into a normal sleep cycle. We basically crashed once we got home and slept as much as we could for the first few days. Now it’s the opposite. We can’t get as much sleep as we want. Hopefully the coming long weekend will help us regulate things.
The result though is that Robbie over slept. I didn’t get out of the house until 7:45, what with the additional tasks of putting out the trash and the recycling and making lunch and yadda yadda blah. I was convinced I was going to be at least 30 minutes late to work.
Then the tease happened.
Most days when I turn on Waze before leaving the house it tells me I will get to work in plenty of time, and that my route will be the most straightforward route there is. Then it starts rerouting me off of the highway, and my estimated arrival time starts getting later and later.
Today it was the opposite. It gave my estimated arrival time as just before 9:00, which made me think maybe 9:15 or 9:20. Then as I was driving it was telling me my next turn would be to get off the highway. As I approached my exit though it would recalculate and tell me to stay on the highway. What? That never happened before. Then I noticed the estimated arrival time was actually getting earlier, not later. Weird. I pulled into a parking spot at 8:37. It only took 52 minutes! What a thrill that was! What a victory! Win! Win! Win!
Thanksgiving is two days away. Clearly much of Eastern Massachusetts is starting their long weekend early. I’ll take it! Tomorrow is the traditional “worst traffic day of the year” but that usually only messes me up in the evening commute. The day before Thanksgiving is usually a really short drive in the morning. Given that we’re now North of the Mass Pike, it could be my fastest commute to work ever!
Now watch me get stuck behind an accident tomorrow. Yay.
In other news, the Bruins won again! Sure they played like crap through most of the game, but they’ve won three in a row! Win! Win! Win!
In other, other news, did you listen to the tape of Sunday’s band practice? Didn’t the guitar sound just filthy? I still have to go back and cut together all of the Family Guy impressions we were doing between songs. Kevin and Greg can both do an excellent Peter Griffin.
