Body Wednesday night Jen and I were at the Tsongas arena watching the Lowell Devils get bombed by the Providence Bruins.  It was painful.  The final score was only 4-1 but it felt like 400-1… and our one goal came with about 13 seconds left in the game.

It got me to thinking about Karma in a sports setting… or maybe in a sports town setting.

The Red Sox beat the crap out of Cleveland in game 1 of the American League Championship Series.  The next day Lowell won their first game of the season, and later that night the Sox lost game 2.  The day after that the Devils won again, and then the Sox lost games 3 on Monday and game 4 on Tuesday.

I began formulating a crackpot theory.  What if the Devils needed to lose in order for the Red Sox to win?  What if the universe required it?  What if, by getting their collective asses handed to them on Wednesday night, the Devils were actually making it Karmicly possible for the Red Sox to win on Thursday?

The Red Sox won on Thursday.

I think I might be on to something.

What do you think?
