Seventeen days seems like a long time. That’s how long I had to wait between Lowell Devils home games.
The last game was the Wednesday before New Year’s Day. It was a painful loss to the evil Manchester Monarchs. Just so you know, I hate the Manchester Monarchs. It’s not quite Montreal Canadians hate, or New York Yankees hate, but it is a real and true hate. Tonight the long wait ended as the Philly Phantoms came to town. It was nice to be plopped into my seat in section G again. Lowell scored early and was holding a 2-0 lead going into the third period. Then they started pretending they were Boston Bruins and let Philly tie the game less than six minutes into the third. But unlike the Bruins, the Lowell Devils had themselves a savior tonight. Lowell Pro-Hockey history was made… at least I think it was. David (Kelly) Clarkson scored four goals in tonight’s game. His hat-trick goal gave Lowell a 3-2 lead mid-way through the third period. In another attempt to pretend they were Boston Bruins, Lowell gave up the tying goal a short time later. Fortunately Ryan Murphy scored the game winner… assisted by none other than David (Kelly) Clarkson. Then in the last second of the game (litteraly) Clarkson scored an empty netter for his fourth goal and fifth point of the night. Not a bad day’s work. I can’t recall any other Lockmonster/Devils player scoring more than three goals in one game, so I think this is a record. I remember once leaving a game thinking some one had four (I can’t remember his name and it’s pissing me off… he was one of the King’s players prior to the defection to the 10th level of hell known as evil Manchester) but by the time I reached my car they had changed the scoring on one of them and he was reduced to a plain old ordinary hat-trick. The Devils win! The Devils win! Here’s the headline photo from the Lowell Devils’ website… hopefully it will display. (it didn’t, thanks for nothing devils website… as lame as it is, at least photobucket loves me) ![]() |
