Body Today I installed Internet Explorer 7 on my PC at work and for some strange reason felt compelled to email a friend of mine a short review comparing it to Firefox.

For some strange reason I feel like posting the email here…

So pardon me if I ask you folks to indulge the nerd.

thanks

***I just installed internet explorer 7.

There are three things about Firefox that, now that I’ve been exposed
to them, I don’t think I could do without.

1. Tabs
2. The Ctrl-F search function
3. View Image

Internet explorer has tabs and they seem to work in the exact same
manner as Firefox.  Points to IE.

The Ctrl-F search in IE looks the same as it did in version 6, but now
it automatically wraps back to the top of the page the way Firefox
does.  That’s good, but Firefox tells you when it wraps back to the
top of the page.  IE 7 does not.  If you’re on a really long page you
could just keep clicking and wrapping back without ever knowing it.
Major points to Firefox.

If you right click on an image in Firefox you see the View Image
function.  It works nicely.  Every version of Internet Explorer I’ve
ever used has a similar function called Show Picture.  However, I have
never seen it active.  It has always been greyed out.  It still is.  There is
probably a way to turn it on, but I’ve never bothered finding it.
Humongous points to Firefox.

Finally there was one other small item of note that is so small I
didn’t initially notice it.  However, once it caught my eye I almost
uninstalled the whole thing.  When you install the software the
default display does not include the menu bar.  I had to right click
my way around the window looking for something that would hopefully
give me a toolbar option.  Eventually I found it, and I was able to
see the menu bar, but to have the program default into a state that
does not include the File menu seems retarded to me.  Infinite points
to Firefox.

Firefox wins.

Oh yeah, and Firefox isn’t a Microsoft product, so it wins on that point alone.***

I can practically smell how fascinated everyone is by that critique.  You’re welcome.

So the Bruins played tonight.  They had a 2-1 lead over the Islanders going into the third period.  Yeah, you guessed it.  They lost 5-4 in a shootout.  Who didn’t see that coming?

I’ve been listening to music via the myspace player tonight.  Much to my amazement it worked on just about every page I clicked on.  Here are the big winners….

Thank you, good night.
