Greatest Park Bench on Earth
It was seriously hot this morning, and when you got into the sun it was oppressive. We stopped for a bottle of water outside of one of the Smithsonian museums, American History, I think.
We needed a place to sit down and refuel ourselves and it had to be shady. We found one magical spot, and in that spot was the single greatest park bench ever produced by human hands. I mean, this thing is the greatest. I want to build a monument to this bench.

No, not That John McLaughlin
Yesterday I saw a trending topic on twitter that threw me for a minute. It was “John McLaughlin”. I immediately thought, oh crap did 2016 take away another of my favorite people?
John McLaughlin was a political commentator who had a famous talk show. He passed away yesterday at the age of 89.
I don’t mean to imply that I was happy about the death of this man. I don’t mean that at all. I will say, however, that I am very happy to learn it was that John McLaughlin, and not another John McLaughlin.
John McLaughlin is an English jazz guitarist. I’m not sure he’s human though because human beings should not really be as amazingly talented as he is. He’s one of those guys who make your favorite rock guitarists feel inadequate the way you feel when you listen to your favorite rock guitarists. Know what I mean? Imagine how good a mortal human being can be on a musical instrument. Then imagine someone who is 100 times better than that. That’s John McLaughlin.
Oh What a Relief
Ahhhhhhhhh….
I just got home from work. I am officially on a four day weekend. Oh what a relief it is. I am professional responsibility free until Monday. Happy Happy Happy
The only thing left to do today is for David Price to pitch like an ace and beat the Orioles. The Red Sox have won five in a row and need to start pummeling opponents again if they are going to make the post season. Let the winning continue tonight. And if you blow it, Price? Then you can kiss my very fat ass.

Welcome to Sunday and a Little FOMO Talk
These days it seems like all I do is complain about how tired I am. If that is the case, then why am I still awake at 12:44am. I’m really tired, but I just can’t seem to drift off. It is really annoying.
My still being awake has nothing to do with the huge thunderstorms that have been rolling buy for the last 2.5 hours or so. The lightning made the back yard look like a Pink Floyd gig, and the thunder was loud enough to shake the house a few times. What I wanted to see in the sky tonight was the Persiod (sp?) meteor shower, but the weather did not play ball. We got Earth shattering thunder instead.
This afternoon my wife, one of her friends, and I went to a movie. Afterward, we went out to eat at a nice restaurant in Lowell. The name escapes me. Jen was working right up until we left and we were a little late getting out of the house. In my haste I did something foolish.
I forgot my iPhone.
If I had had my phone with me I could have checked in on Facebook at the restaurant and I’d be able to give you it’s name. If I’d had my phone I would have posted my mini-review of the new Star Trek flick long before I did. If I’d had my phone I would have been able to Google that Olympic bike race we saw that had the weird moped pace car thing and found out why the moped paced the track for six out of eight laps. I would also have been able to snap a pic of the salt shaker using Hipstamatic. It would have been soooo artistic.
It’s not so much a FOMO (fear of missing out) thing for me. It’s more of a FOMOOAOSM (fear of missing out on an over sharing moment) kind of thing.
It’s 1:03am now. Maybe I’ll try sleeping again. My beautiful bride has our alarm clock set for 5:00am. Better get what I can.
Star Trek Beyond — Mini Review
We went to see the new Star Trek movie tonight. I freakin’ loved it! I think it might have been better than Into Darkness, and I freakin’ loved that one too.
I might be biased though. I have said it before and I’ll say it again…
If Simon Pegg made a movie that consisted of nothing but Simon Pegg sitting on a chair watching paint dry, I would think it was Best Picture Oscar winning awesome. Seriously. I’m sure that at some point in his movie career he made a crap film, but I haven’t seen it… and I would probably love it anyway.
Star Trek Beyond: I approve.
