Hero of the Week

I was thinking of doing something with this page to highlight people who are standing up to the rise of fascism in the united states. Something simple like a weekly topic, you know? Something like The Democracy Hero of the Week or The Anti-Fascist Hero of the Week. Something regular and recurring and formal like that.

But the more I thought about it the more I realized I would just be sharing everything that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posted that week.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Medicaid is not for sale.NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale.America is not for sale.We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

There are moments in these deportation fights when I can just FEEL how pissed off they are that I’m Puerto Rican 😂 they want to threaten me with it so bad 😂

………..And those are just from the last four days.

  1. Also, Maine Governor Janet Mills actually stood up to Trump, face to face, when he ordered all states to disregard laws and do only what he wants done. She’s a hero too. (I’m trying in my own small way to recognize heroes like these and keep track of them. I’m sure it won’t do any good, but it’s at least a little bit satisfying.)
