I’ve never really thought about this before.
I’ve always had a hard time making friends, but when I do make a friend it’s a friend for life. At 53 years old, my two best friends (apart from my wife) are people I knew when we were in elementary school. Our friendships date back to the 1980’s if you can believe that.
I suppose one quality I value is the ability to tolerate what a putz I can be at times. That’s important. A love of music helps, especially if it’s to the point of obsession.
When I stop and really think it through though, the quality I value the most is a sick and twisted, sarcastic sense of humor. Being able to laugh at things goes a long way in my weird-o book.
I used to cycle through social circles roughly every 5 years… back when Ihad social circles. That stopped arpund 4t yrs old.
