I’m Pissed at Elon

I was fine using twitter. I didn’t use it a lot, but I would bring it up when I watched a Bruins game or a Red Sox game and it was fun to see other people react.

Then Elon Musk… that prick.

Now I am stuck trying to decide which alternative social network I want to use in place of the twitter. Why? Why did that spoiled asshole have to screw everything up?

Bluesky?

Threads?

Mastodon?

Which one should I go with? I have been using Threads a lot but today I had the urge to go back to Bluesky. Why? Why do I care? What does it matter? I should just go back to myspace. Is friendster still a thing?

  1. I tried Post first as an alternative to Twitter but I didn’t like the method of paying to read posts. Signed up for Mastodon but I never did figure out what an “instance” is, if that’s even the right word.

I landed on Threads, which is newer, nicer, and not run by a lunatic. However, threads is part of instagram which is associated with Facebook, so I have reservations.

My two cents worth is Threads was the best of the lot. I never tried out BlueSky. Have you considered truth social …….

  2. I have no idea how Mastodon works. I felt as though I was stepping back in time. I like Bluesky because at the moment it doesn’t have advertising and it’s more like Twitter, but I’m still trying to work out how to use it. I’m kind of in love with Threads but as a woman I’m still receiving those horrible’Hello Beautiful’ I really want to get to know you’ messages that you receive from Twitter and Instagram 😣 plus for some reason ladies with big breasts and butts seem to want my friendship as well 🤷‍♀️ These I block and delete. I’ve built a following on Threads in the writing and reading communities so I’m happy there. I still use Twitter because the reading and writing community is amazing. I think Facebook isn’t as popular as it once was.

  3. I tried them all. Threads was cool at first but then my feed became overrun by right wing lunatics, so I stopped using it. Mastodon is a great alternative, but sadly, not a lot of people use it since it’s not very user friendly, so I decided to delete my account. I’m on Bluesky now. If you like Twitter’s interface (but not the right wing lunatics) then Bluesky is probably the best choice. I did like how Twitter was before Enron Muskrat decided to ruin it. So far, Bluesky is providing the pre-Muskrat experience. I’m sure there’s right wing lunatics on there, too, but thankfully I’ve not seen any.
