The Bruins are out of the playoffs. Our hopes for another Stanley Cup run were dashed by the Tampa Bay Lightning. I have to admit, Tampa was the better team. It’s hockey heart breaking, but we had a good run. Remember when just winning a playoff series equated to a good run? That went away with the Cup win in 2011, and the Cup loss in 2013, but we’re somehow back to that. Oh well.
So now what? There are still five teams left (one second round series still has to play game seven) so which team am I backing for the last two rounds?
I’m sure as hell not rooting for the Lightning. Screw those guys and their warm weather. the Capitals finally, finally, finally managed to take out the Penguins last night. It would be nice to see Alex Ovetchkin win a cup, but I hate that team too so screw them.
My only hopes are in the Western Conference. I have enjoyed watching the Jets this post season. There’s a lot to like there. Likewise, Nashville is a good team. Unfortunately one of those two teams is golf course bound come Thursday night.
That leaves one team. One team of destiny. One plucky little team that continues to defy all of the odds. One team that gambled on existence and won. One team that went all in and is reaping the rewards. One team that is causing me to run out of gambling cliches.
One team that I am rooting for for the rest of the playoffs.
The Las Vegas Golden Knights.
