Body So 8 out of 14 for 57% might not look all that much better than 6 out of 12 for 50%, but it sure feels better.

Both of my Conference Finals picks were winners.  Pittsburgh beat Philadelphia in five games and Detroit beat Dallas in six.  That leaves just one more round to predict… and I haven’t a clue.  I’ve spent the whole season convinced that the Cup would be won in the West this year.  But now?  It probably still will be, but the Penguins are making me think twice.

In fact the Penguins are more than making me think twice, they’ve convinced me.  I am going with Pittsburgh in the Cup Finals.  Having said that (here’s my usual caveat) I think Detroit will win.  That’s how a spineless wonder manages to pick both teams to win.  Back one but predict the other.  It’s either that or root for the referees.

But seriously, Detroit’s defense is outstanding, but are they outstanding enough to stop both the Crosby and Malkin lines?  And don’t forget that other Staal guy’s line too.  (not the Staal who lit it up with my Lock Monsters a few years ago… Jordan, not Eric)  The scary part of picking Pittsburgh is their defense… not all of it, just the Hal Gill part.  Urgh.  That one is going to bite me on my hockey fan ass, you can bet on it.  I give him to game 2 before he scores in his own goal.

Either way, if you’re one of those people who enjoys watching offense (and who doesn’t… apart from Jacques Lemaire maybe) then you can’t beat a seven game series where one team features Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin and the other team features Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk.

This one is going to be fun.

Go Penguins
