Body It’s not quite over yet, but the home portion of the Lowell Devils season has ended.  They have a few games on the road later this week before the year comes to a merciful end.

They sucked.  As fanatical a follower I am (I’d probably drink the coolaide) I have to admit that they were just awful this year.  It was difficult to watch.  I think if there had actually been people at the games I would have spent more time people watching than hockey watching and for me that’s as bad as it gets.

Still… I wish we had another 10-20 games left.  I hate to see it end.

There were six players on the roster whose +/- was -20 or worse.  Grant Marshall, a player I actually like, lead the way with an unfathomable -32.  The team has scored a league low 177 goals this year.  (there are still three games to go).  The attendence was shameful.  In 40 games they drew a wopping 84,094 fans.  By far the worst in the league.  The next worst attendance is Springfield with 128,744… and they still have 2 home games to go.

Still… it’d be nice to be able to go to a few more games, wouldn’t it?

Over the last few seasons I’ve spent a lot of time bringing my camera to games and snapping lots of bad pictures.  I did that this year too, but not as often.  They were just so bad that I couldn’t even bring myself to keep up with my geeky hobby.  Here’s a slide show of the highlights (and lowlights) of my photographic dorkishness.

That’ll have to hold you until next season when I hope to be a season ticket holder for a non-last place team.  It seems like such an uphill battle though.  Hopefully the minor league hockey pain and minor league hockey suffering ends here.

Hopefully.
