| Body | Another great weekend in the books.
Friday I went out with Jen’s work group. They went to a place called Sky Lounge in Nashua… I think that’s what it was called… right? Whatever, nice place. I got to meet a few of Jen’s colleagues, some I met last summer, others I met for the first time. There was a band. Jen did some dancing. I did some watching. It was fun. Saturday Uncle Johnny finally came home. The wheelchair ramp was being built when we got to his house so John and I carried him up the stairs. He looked so relieved to be out of the hospital. It just felt good to see him sitting at the kitchen table again. I was told that he had a rough night that night. Enough pain that he couldn’t sleep. My folks went to see him Sunday and he improved quite a bit. I hope he got a good night’s sleep last night. Afterwards we went to see Spamalot at the Opera House. It was a good time. Strangely, the sketches that were taken from The Holy Grail were the least funny. It just seemed wrong hearing those lines being delivered by different actors. It wasn’t bad, don’t get me wrong, it just wasn’t correct. It was like hearing a cover band play your favorite song by your favorite band. It’s not bad, it’s just wrong. The new scenes, including the musical numbers, were all great. They alone made the show worthwhile. Eric Idle has managed to instill some of the old Monty Python Magic into the new material. I particularly liked the moment when The Lady of the Lake strolls out onto the stage to sing a touching ballad bitching about why she has no stage time in the second act. The song detailing why the show will never be a hit on Broadway was also a hit with me. Especially because Clay Aiken wasn’t playing Sir Robin. That just iced it for me. The best line in the show: How can you not love that?? Here are the obligatory crappy camera phone pictures:
Sunday was another great day. Jen and I stayed home and did NOTHING. We watched a couple of old MST3K’s, some of the NHL All Star game (zzzz zzzz zzzz) and The Order of the Phoenix… as well as making brownies (how domestic of us! WOOHOO) and generally being lazy and doing nothing. It was fantastic. Tonight I am making a statement, not only about the RPM Challenge, but about our relationship. Tonight one of my guitars (the ES 335) will be left at Jen’s. Like I said the other day, it must be love. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow. I hate doctors. It’s just my annual physical (the first in almost three years… so I guess it’s not “annual” per se) but I still don’t want to go. I’d rather go to work. Oh well, so tonight I am going to Jen’s to visit with the kids. I think I might try to get them to watch the AHL All Star game. (zzzz zzzz zzzz) Other important events to look forward too: Game Night – Lowell Devils style. This month’s Game Night will take place at a Devils game… it’s a game night even though other people are going to play the actual game. Homemade Jambalaya while watching the Super Bowl. I know the Patriots are undefeated this year kids, but let’s not get away from the cautious optimism that worked so well for the Red Sox this year. That’s all I got people, I’m going home. |
