The Lowell Devils franchise has completely screwed over the few loyal fans it has left.

Here’s how:

The Devils are currently the worst team in the American Hockey League. Based on the league’s standings page they are one of three teams tied for the fewest number of points, and they have the lowest winning percentage overall. According to the leagues attendance page they have both the lowest total attendance and the lowest per-game average attendance.

On Saturday December 15, 2007 they ran a promotion where all fans attending the game received a voucher for a free ticket to the game on Wednesday December 19, 2007. That seems like a nice way to try and build up the crowd on what is generally a slow night, right?

On Sunday December 16, 2007 New England was slammed by a big snow storm. Kenny Rogers was booked to play the Tsongas arena but due to the inclement weather the show was postponed.

This brings us to the screwing of the tiny number of people who actually still give a shit…

Today, Monday December 17, 2007 the team announced that the Wednesday 12/19 game was rescheduled for Tuesday December 18, 2007. Tomorrow. Now all of those people who got free tickets to Wednesday’s game on Saturday now have free tickets to Tuesday’s game with exactly one day’s notice of the change. Those of us who have the misfortune of being season ticket holders got emails informing us of the change. Did I happen to mention that this is the last week before Christmas? I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am insanely busy right now and cannot change my plans to accommodate a pathetic hockey team’s desire to change their schedule on a day’s notice.

Why are they rescheduling the game? Because the Kenny Rogers show that was postponed on Sunday was rescheduled to Wednesday. That’s right, the concert was moved to a night in which the arena was already booked for an event that a couple of thousand people were given free passes too, and about a thousand others have had tickets in their hands to for over two months.

Please explain to me why I should give a flying fuck about a last place team that clearly does not give a fuck about me or any of it’s fans? Right now I wish the damn team would just go under so I can start spending my hockey dollars in Worcester. We had planned to use our vouchers to bring Jen and the kids to the game. Not anymore.

I sincerely hope that the building is completely empty tomorrow night. Thanks for the fucking Christmas present Devils.
