Body Friday: Spaceballs at Larry’s.  It’s mega-maid.  She’s gone from suck to blow!

Saturday
: Dinner and a movie with Jen and Larry and Nawal.  It was the first time my girlfriend met any of my friends.  I think it went okay.  Jen tried to grill me on their reactions, but I had to explain to her that as a male I lack the unstoppable urge to gossip about such situations.  (hehe yeah, Robbie’s being sarcastic again.  The truth is they liked her, and so do I.)

Prior to the night out I went shopping and, on what was little more than an impulse, I bought a laptop.  I figured I could use it for my on-calls, but it’s running Windows Vista which work-connectivity-wise is next to useless.  At least I can sit on my bed and type this little blog blather.

Sunday: Super cool night out.  Jen and I saw Kristin Hersh play at Hi-n-Dry studio in Cambridge.  There were probably 80 people there, tops.  Imagine seeing one of your favorite bands playing in your living room.  That’s what it was like.  The show was fantastic.  Just before we left Salem I was thinking about just blowing it off and staying at Jen’s.  I am so glad we went.  Jen had a good time too.  It was great.  Here are a shit load of pictures.  I’ll get to Monday after you check them out…

Most of those pictures are just a tiny bit blurry, but I think they’re okay.

Monday: Memorial Day is a day when folks get together and celebrate the memory of those who gave their lives for our country.  It’s a nice idea.  I’d prefer it if we weren’t adding people to this list of those who’ve died for our country, but this isn’t the place for my political thoughts… at least not today.  The other Memorial Day tradition is people getting together and kicking off summer.

Not for me.

I was on-call for the day.  I got seven calls.  It was stressful, like having a gun to your holiday’s head, but it was far from the end of the world.  Of course I’d seriously prefer not to do it again, thanks.

Monday night was also the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals.  All went well (except for the work call I received during the second period) as Anaheim pulled out a 3-2 win in the last three minutes or so.  It was a hell of a game.  The Ducks were throwing hits around like it was… well… the 70s.  Ottawa has been talking about how they had a bad game, but I think the Ducks might have just taken it to them.  Well see tonight in game two.  Go Ducks.

Tuesday: Another concert.  This time it was schmaltzy jazz night.  Larry and I saw Steely Dan at the venue-formerly-known-as Harborlights.  It was an excellent show.  Steely Dan started out as a jazzy rock & roll band, but they evolved into a jazz band that can rock a little.  The set list was heavy on later stuff (4 out of 7 tracks from Aja) but they hit nothing but high notes.  The band Misters Fagen and Becker have behind them now is stellar.  It was just an all around great show, and they played “Pretzel Logic” which just iced the cake for this red head.

I didn’t have my camera, but I did have my camera phone!  Here they are kids, the crap-o-la camera phone pictures!

How about that one, huh?  Just like being there!  Now here’s one of Donald Fagen playing an electric piano…

Can you see him there?  Lets try again…

That’s better, huh?  Yeah!

Wednesday: A few things today.  Stanley Cup finals game 2, as stated previously… go Ducks.  I also had my review today and lets just say that when I get paid again there will be a little more money there to play with.

I’m on-call again from tomorrow night through Monday morning, but I don’t expect it to be as bad as it was Monday.  Jen is going away next week so I’m going to set up a connection to the office on her PC so that I can spend the last few days before she goes with her.  That pretty much fills up my weekend.  Game three of the cup finals is Saturday, but other than that it’ll be quiet.

Well, the hockey game just started.  I’m off to watch the Ducks beat the Senators.

Good day all.
