Body The more I think about this post the less funny it gets… but what the hell, I’ve made it this far…

I am back from my exile!

I had to hit the road last week, and man livin’ life on the road is a tough life.  I had those mean ol’ 34 miles from home blues.

We had the hardwood floors on the first floor of the house revarnished.  Last Monday through Thursday included the stairs to the second floor… No one could walk on the stairs for three days out of fear of screwing up the varnish… that meant I could not get to my bedroom.  I was forced out of the house.

I stayed at a Red Roof 0.8 miles from work.  Thrill of thrills.  No NESN, no VERSUS… meaning no Red Sox and no NHL playoffs.  Robbie was a tad pissed.  So I went over to one of the 10 billion stores on route 9 and found myself a cheap portable dvd player with a whopping 7″ screen, and a few dvds.  That and some quality book time killed off Monday night.  Tuesday was spent with Jen (Hi Jen!) and then Wednesday was spent with more dvds and more reading.

They say that life on the road is dull, and damn if they ain’t right!  I wanted to share some pictures of my wicked exciting couple or nights in the hotel room.  Here they come!

Hotel room, view #1

There are two interesting items of note in this picture.  First, the tv and it’s whopping selection of less than 20 channels… the other is the box of Yodels… yeah, boredom makes me pig out even more than lack of boredom does.

Notice the 7″ screen showing Highlander.  I finally bought Highlander on dvd.  It says on the package that it’s the original version, but it was actually the director’s cut.  I was a little pissed.  Also note that I am preparing for July by rereading the last couple of Harry Potter novels… that one on the bed is Order of the Phoenix.  Pretty fascinating lifestyle, eh?

The microwave!  The mini-fridge!  The air conditioner!  And lest we forget, the empty bag of chips!

The curtain!  I would have opened the window but all you would have seen is the parking lot and the other Red Roof building which was all under renovation and wasn’t even open.

There is something interesting about the door though… at least it’s interesting to those of us who’ve seen the Fox network’s short lived Greg the Bunny series.

Here’s a better look…

I am referring to the multiple peep holes.  One for Humans, and one for Puppets… just like the multiple doorknobs in the old Greg the Bunny show!

(that picture is a screen shot from a youtube clip of the opening credits.  I appologize for how freakin’ awefull it looks… I can’t find my dvd right now so I can’t make a better capture.  Sorry… but you get the idea, one doorknob is high on the door to be used by humans, and one is low to be used by puppets.  Just like the peep holes at the Red Roof… like I said, it was funny when I started thinking about this… it’s not funny anymore.  If you don’t like it you can go get bent.)

Out of boredom I tried to do something artsy with the peep holes… is it peep hole or peak hole?  Ah who the hell cares, this blog stopped being funny… before I started typing…

I used the camera’s macro function and tried to get a shot through the peak hole.  the bottom (puppet) hole didn’t work out so well.  You can see something but it’s just a blur.

I think it’s lights from the parking lot, but they might be from the opposite building.

Here’s a shot through the top (human) hole…

Success!  That’s my car you’re looking at.  Pretty cool, huh?  The macro function kinda worked.

Finally (thank christ, the fat guy is almost done leaking this shit out of his brain) here’s a shot of the thing that started it all… the revarnished living room floor.

Salute!
