NHL First round play-off picks!

Really quick… I can’t stay long.

NHL First round picks. Last year I had luck picking with my heart instead of my head. I’ll try and go that route again.

Eastern Conference:

Buffalo vs NY Islanders. I hate both of these teams. Absolutely loath them. However, Buffalo is so far and away the best team in the East this year that I have to pick them. I hate them, but they are probably going to make it to the Stanley Cup finals. Urgh.

New Jersey vs Tampa Bay. Tampa has a killer offense with Lecavalier and St-Louis, but you have to have shit for brains in order to pick anyone over Martin Brodeur. He’s the best goalie in the league and he’s got a pile of rings for a reason. New Jersey wins this one.

Atlanta vs NY Rangers. I said I was picking with my heart. The Rangers are going to win this one, but I hate them so much I could never pick them. I pick Atlanta by default.

Ottawa vs Pittsburgh. I’m going with the hip pick on this one. I really don’t think Pittsburgh has a chance if Ottawa can shake off the play-off demons, but I’m going to pick the Penguins because they are seriously fun to watch.

Western Conference

Detriot vs Calgary. I can almost smell the Detroit choke. It’s just over the horizon, boiling up to the surface. Let’s go Calgary!

Anaheim vs Minnesota. I like the Wild, but Anaheim isn’t going out in the first round with their super human defensemen holding the blue line. I think Anaheim wins it, and I think they win it quickly.

Vancouver vs Dallas. Roberto Luongo finally gets to the NHL’s big stage, and it is about friggin’ time. Vancouver wins this one.

Nashville vs San Jose. I’m picking San Jose to win it all. Enough said.

Now… lets see how many of these I get wrong!
