Body Three days this weekend, three games in two cities.

Friday was a painful loss to Portland.  I hate losing to Portland.

Saturday and Sunday were a home and home against Providence.  I brought the camera to both of those games.  Saturday was a nice win in a pretty high scoring game at home.  Today (Sunday) was another painful loss.  I hate losing to Providence.

I took more pictures than I know what to do with, but I’ll make a little pictoral blog post on another day.  For today I have two things.  First, the difficult part of rooting for a minor league team and a major league team is that they are not necessarily the same franchise.  In the NHL I am a Boston Bruins fan.  In the AHL I am a Lowell Devils fan and as I just mentioned I really hate the Providence Bruins.

But what do you do when Boston players are sent down to Providence?  It can get a little confusing.  For example:

These are two pictures of a goalie named Hannu Toivenen.  I took the one on the left at the TD Banknorth Garden in October.  I took the one on the right at the Dunkin Donuts Center earlier today.

It’s the same guy, it’s the same franchise, it’s the same year… but the shot on the left was taken by me while I was hoping he’d win (he did).  The shot on the right was taken by me while desperately hoping he’d lose (he didn’t).  It’s just a little confusing is all.

My last comment has to do with this guy:

Is it just me or do the Lowell Devils have a seriously creepy mascott?  He’s not cute and cuddley like some team mascotts, and he’s not mean and scary like others.  He’s just… creepy.  Imagine if you will, Beelzebub having a love child with some mutant from the Island of Doctor Moreau… that’s Devil Dawg.  He just weirds me out a little is all.

Okay, enough for today.

g’night
