| Body | I have managed to hold onto some of my childhood obsessions during the trip to old age. I was six years old when Star Wars came out. I still love it. Every second of it. All six movies. Even the two crappy ones. I was seven years old when I started paying attention to baseball. Specifically the Boston Red Sox. I’m still a huge fan. I have a tough time dealing with Fenway Park these days as I am a huge fan both figuratively and litteraly. Let’s just say that in 1912 it was rather unusual to see some one as tall as me. In some sections my ass doesn’t fit in the seat… that’s my fault. In all sections my legs don’t fit… that’s the park’s fault. Anyway, I still love going to games and watching them on tv and getting royally pissed off when they lose, and being euphoric when they win. I was 10 or 11 years old when the new kid in my fifth grade class introduced me to Rush. I went off the deep end at a very young age and haven’t recovered yet. They were my absolute favorite band in 1981, and they are still my absolute favorite band in 2007. And earlier today I bought a bunch of tickets to the June 27, 2007 Rush show at the venue formerly known as Great Woods in Mansfield, MA. I am completely giddy over this. I feel like a kid again. I’m going to see my favorite band (for the 10th time) and the only downside of the situation is that I have to wait three whole months! Their new record comes out on May 1st and I’ve already got a nasty case of the shakes waiting for that day. They are playing in Milwaukee, WI and St. Paul, MN in early September, and I am in the early stages of planning a trip out there to visit Mike&Tammy&Cecilia to coincide with one of those shows. Of the nine times I’ve seen Rush so far, Mike has gone with me.. let’s see… nine times. It’s not a Rush tour unless Mike and I get to a gig together. They’re also playing at Mohegan Sun in early July… anyone want to go with me? I’ve caught two shows in one tour twice before, but never three… Mohegan would make three… wanna go with me? hehehehehehe WOOHOO Rush is coming back to my town and I have tickets! |
