| Body | So there we are at the Tsongas Arena today. It is late in the third period. Lowell has just tied the game at two. Everyone is on the edge of their seat in this the third really good game of the weekend. Worcester has played a very tough game and done an excellent job of shutting down Lowell’s offense, but Frank Doyle has kept his Devils in the game.
As the clock is ticking through the final minutes of regulation the Tsongas’ rink announcer tells us the American Hockey League has just announced that Lowell Devil forward David Clarkson has been named the player of the week. Fast forward to overtime. AHL player of the week David Clarkson storms the Worcester net and steam rolls goalie Dimitri Patzold. The player of the week heads to the penalty box with a two minute minor for goaltender interference and Worcester scores the winning goal in the ensuing power play. Oh cruel hockey fate, how you mock me! |
